Salaries

 

For detailed information on salaries please see Article 53: Compensation in the Collective Agreement.

We have recently ratified our new Collective Agreement with the University.  The Memorandum of Settlement sets out all areas of the Collective Agreement that have been changed.  A new copy of the agreement will be available soon.  The changes are reflected below:

Salary Floors

 

UGFA negotiates a minimum salary for our Members as part of our Collective Agreement. In the current Collective Agreement which expires June 30, 2021, the salary floors for Faculty, Librarians and Veterinarian members are as follows:

Base Increases

 

Salary adjustments are implemented annually on July 1st. Salary adjustments for individual Members shall include one or more of the following components applied in the following order:

 

Cost of Living Increase

  • ​July 1, 2022: 1.00%
  • July 1, 2023: 1.00%

Faculty, Librarian and Veterinarian Members' base salaries as at June 30, 2022 shall be used as the starting point for the application of the salary increases set out above.

 

Annual Career Increment

  • July 1, 2022: $2,677
  • July 1, 2023: $2,695

Performance Increments

 

52.11 A performance-based recognition fund will be established and shall be awarded as one-time lump sums on July 1, 2022 and July 1, 2023 respectively, on the basis of performance evaluations for each Faculty, Librarian and Veterinarian Member as follows:  The performance increment pool shall be established by multiplying the applicable value (below) by the total number of all Members on July 1, 2022, July 1, 2023, respectively.

Overload Stipend

 

Faculty Members teaching overload courses will receive a stipend of $8,000 for each course taught, which is considered a full course weighting in the Academic Unit in which the teaching is assigned..

 

 

On-Call and Emergency for Veterinarians

 

Veterinarian Members required to be on call or to provide emergency services outside their regular working hours shall be remunerated as follows:

  • On-call Veterinarians are remunerated at a rate of $50/day.
  • Emergency in-house services outside of regular working hours in the Large Animal Clinic are remunerated at a rate of $250/hour.
  • Emergency in-house services outside of regular working hours in the Small Animal Clinic are remunerated at a rate of $300/hour.
  • Emergency field service outside of regular working hours is remunerated at a rate of $150/hour.

Remuneration of Chair/Directors


A Faculty Member who is a Department Chair or Director of a School shall receive an annual stipend. For all Faculty Members who are Department Chairs or Directors of a School as of July 1, 2011, or subsequently become Department Chairs or Directors of a School during the term of this Agreement, the amount of the Stipend shall be a minimum of $12,000 for his/her first term as Chair, and a minimum of $14,000 for his/her second term as Chair. The actual stipend amount shall be determined by negotiation between the Faculty Member and the Dean at the time of appointment to the position of Chair/Director.

 

 

Remuneration for Librarian Administrative Appointments

 

For all Librarians who hold an Administrative Appointment, or subsequently assume an Administrative Appointment during the term of this Agreement, the amount of the stipend shall be a minimum of:

  • Level I:   $5,500 with a minimum of $7,500 for his/her second term
  • Level II:  $7,500 with a minimum of $9,500 for his/her second term
  • Level III: $10,500 with a minimum of $12,500 for his/her second term

While we strive to maintain the most up-to-date information on our website, if there is a discrepancy between the website content and the Collective Agreement, the terms in the signed Collective Agreement will prevail.
